Our Four Favorite Bathroom Trends

While often overlooked, the bathroom is one of the most important rooms in your home. It’s where you start and finish your day and establish self-care routines. If thoughtfully designed, the room is a calming space ideal for relaxing alone. Here are our four favorite trends that will make your bathroom feel enjoyable and luxurious.

Travertine and Stone Accents

Incorporating travertine and stone accents into your powder room is a great way to elevate the decor and add a touch of luxury into your everyday life. The neutral tones of travertine make it elegant, minimal, and inviting - evoking a sense of ease and peacefulness. Additionally, it’s smooth texture makes it an easy-to-clean surface.

We used travertine accents for this stunning remodel in Montecito. The soft beige compliments the wood of the custom cabinets to embody a chic and modern design.

Natural Woods and Warm Textures

With metal hardware, porcelain, and tile, it’s no surprise that bathrooms can sometimes feel a bit sterile, especially when there’s nary a window in sight. Architectural Digest explains that the dominating aesthetic for homes in 2021 can be described in one word: soothing. Bathrooms are no exception to this. A great way to bring warmth to the space is by introducing soft colors and natural materials, like wood, to the decor scheme.

We had the privilege of implementing this organic style into a powder room for our client and fellow contractor, Peter Kornbluth. Kornbluth came to our shop with an olive log that he harvested from his 110-year-old orchard of 64 trees that was destroyed, along with his home, in the Jesusita Fire. He envisioned using this wood for his home rebuild, so the logs were milled, dried, and built into all of the new house's cabinets. The final result was breathtaking. The warm tones of the olive wood paired beautifully with the sleek lines of the cabinets and countertops. We loved partnering alongside Ann James Interiors to design this breathtaking and spacious restroom.

Concrete Finishes

Concrete is an increasingly popular material for architecture and interior design. With countless finish options, it is a versatile and dynamic decor choice. Adding concrete into the bathroom creates a sleek and industrial aesthetic that elevates your home.

We incorporated interior concrete into the airy and luxurious restroom of our Upper Garden Street remodel. Adding texture to the walls, the material lends visual weight to the room to become the focal point.

His-and-Her Amenities

His-and-her amenities are a luxurious addition to a master bathroom. Adding value to a home, these features create a relaxing and sauna-like atmosphere.

We had the pleasure of renovating this gorgeous bathroom for a home in Montecito. What was originally a closet transformed into a second bathroom connected to the master-bath with a large walk-through shower. This created two his-and-her restroom spaces with their own amenities. With pristine Carrara Marble, the walk-through shower became the focal point. Additionally, we built two vanities with custom tile mirrors to enhance the spaces. Finally, the large alcove bathtub and glass shelving provide an elegant corner, perfect for relaxing after a long day.
